May one day port some of the tricks … May one day port some of the tricks I’m using to “greatly” simplify my “WordPress IndieWeb experience” to an add-on plugin, or a theme, or both. Or at least better document how I do things like set titles (yet “hide” them on the front end) for notes, to make for a more convenient back-end browsing experience. As an alternative to Post Kinds, perhaps, and existing themes. (And then make the whole thing Gutenberg-compatible. 😬) By Jan Boddez on Sep 8, 2020 Also on Mastodon Replies Jan Boddez on Sep 8, 2020 Always said I much preferred my Laravel setup over proper WordPress, because of all the control I’ve got over the front-end markup, but my web host has sort of made things much more difficult to maintain. And fully custom code’s way harder “to share to the world,” too. And I’ve been way overthinking things—what’s new? Via jan.boddez.net, in reply to May one day port some of the tricks ….

This portable power bank comes with an attached cord to ensure your phone is never at 1% again!

I have the highest phone battery consumption among my friends but I am also that fool who forgets her power bank. If it is my lucky day, I will have my power bank but I will most likely forget the cord. It is a small problem but when your phone is on 1% and you have to do a post…or worse, when your mom calls and it just dies, that is when you wish you had a solution like Peel!

This clever product is a conceptual power bank especially designed for people who forget to bring their cord when they head out. Zheng gives the otherwise dull and boxy power banks a smart, sleek, and refreshing look. Peel has a variety of charging functions integrated into itself and one of the most efficient features is the rewinding cord mechanism. It can hold up to 750mm of wire for charging. The length and clean storage of the wire allows you to adjust it based on your needs and you don’t have to sit right next to a plug point again.

Peel literally radiates warm energy but it does so metaphorically as well through the choice of CMF – the surface of the power supply is made of soft cloth, adding a delicate tactile dimension missing from power banks currently in the market. The rounded corners give it a friendly aesthetic while making it more comfortable to hold. I love the modern look of Peel and the fact that I will never have to search for my cords again or be tethered to the plug point along with my phone. Peel-ease get this into production ASAP!

LEGO-inspired concrete organizer is modular, holds your belongings, and even docks your phone!

This bauble-box is brutalist beauty at its best! The Mesh, by Mexico-based Shift is a concrete organizer that allows you to store all your small belongings and customize how you store them too! Designed to work well in any space, the Mesh can be placed on your work-desk, bedside table, mantelpiece, dressing table, or even your bathroom. The concrete setup comes with a toothed base, and containers with notches that dock right into the grooves/teeth. The layout opportunities are endless, and you can even use the grooved base to route cables, rest stationery, and even dock your phone! The concrete components cone in a variety of monochrome hues, and blend into the decor well, whether it’s your desktop, dressing table, or the shelf right beside your main door. The fact that the containers (and base) are slip-cast in porous concrete means the Mesh doesn’t mind a little bit of water, making it ideal for the bathroom, or even to plant tiny succulents around your workspace! Whether it’s your tech, stationery, accessories, EDC, keys, plants, or even toiletries, the Mesh does a pretty remarkable job of storing your stash and allowing you to arrange them exactly the way you like. Plus, the modular nature of the Mesh means you could easily expand your storage by purchasing additional units!
